Ninth-ranked Thompson swept Sparkman 12-1 and 5-1 at home on Thursday in the Class 7A baseball state playoffs, shutting down the Senators in 5 innings in the opener with Wyatt Williams striking out the side to snuff out Sparkman’s bases-loaded comeback bid in the bottom of the seventh in the nightcap.
