Alabama man’s 1975 rape conviction vacated after he served 42 years in prison

A Jefferson County man fighting for decades to clear his name won that battle Friday when a Jefferson County judge vacated his 1975 rape conviction.

Ervin Harris, now in his 70s, served more than four decades in an Alabama prison. Though he completed his sentence, he continued to maintain his innocence.
