Last week I testified before the U.S. Senate about workforce readiness in the age of AI. Senators wanted to know how Alabama — not a state most people associate with leading-edge tech education — had ranked third in the nation in student enrollment in data science courses, behind only California and Virginia. I told them the answer was straightforward: Alabama decided to treat workforce readiness as a measurable outcome, not an aspiration.
