On Oct. 3, 2021, Washington Nationals catcher Alex Avila hit a two-run double in the fifth inning of a 7-5 loss to the Boston Red Sox. Avila’s last hit in his final Major League game had been the most recent in the big leagues for an Alabama alumnus until Friday night.
