As AviaGames gets closer to its 10th anniversary, the team made its first official appearance at GDC 2026 in San Francisco. They were set up near Tencent Games and Keywords Studios, connecting with partners, exploring opportunities, and chatting with people interested in joining the team.
They also took part in two panels during the event. The AviaGames & PayPal session on March 11 focused on how payment systems shape player experience and trust in skill-based real money games. The AviaGames & Meta session on March 12 looked at how brand storytelling and performance marketing can work together for long-term growth.
What AviaGames Brought to GDC
With the company nearing its 10-year milestone, GDC provided an opportunity for AviaGames to connect with the broader gaming industry and talk about the systems that support skill-based mobile games.
The discussions went beyond individual titles, focusing instead on what shapes the overall player experience, including secure payment systems, reliable payouts, strategic partnerships, and fair competition.
At Booth 656, the team met with partners, explored collaborations, and connected with attendees interested in career opportunities, using the space as a hub for these conversations throughout the event.
The booth was open:
- March 11–12: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- March 13: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
GDC Sessions with PayPal and Meta
At GDC 2026, the sessions featuring PayPal and Meta focused on different parts of the player experience and growth strategy.
The first session, AviaGames and PayPal, held on March 11, explored how payment systems and payout processes influence player experience and trust. The discussion included insights from Justin Butler, Vice President of Digital Money & Commerce Solutions at PayPal, and covered areas like transaction transparency and reliable payment infrastructure.
The second session, AviaGames and Meta, held on March 12, shifted toward marketing strategy, looking at how brand storytelling and performance marketing can work together. Topics included creative testing, data-driven insights, and coordinated campaign planning to support long-term growth.
Together, these sessions highlighted how both payments and marketing play a role in shaping the overall experience, from how players interact with a platform to how they discover and engage with it over time.
2026 Industry Recognition
Alongside its presence at GDC, AviaGames also saw industry recognition in 2026 through its Wonderland Wishes campaign for Solitaire Clash, which was named a finalist in two major award programs.
The campaign was selected as a finalist in the 2026 Shorty Awards under the Video Series category. Now in its 18th year, the Shorty Awards recognize work across digital content, social storytelling, and brand campaigns, with past finalists including companies like Disney, Spotify, and YouTube.
Wonderland Wishes was also named a finalist in the 2026 Digiday Video & TV Awards, which highlights innovation in video, marketing, and media. While the Shorty Awards recognition reflects the campaign’s community-driven impact, the Digiday recognition focuses more on how the campaign used video as a core part of its storytelling strategy.
The campaign itself ran for five weeks and was built around player participation. Solitaire Clash players earned 691,862,810 Wish Stars through in-game events, which AviaGames converted into a $136,000 donation to Foster Love, a nonprofit supporting children in foster care.
These recognitions highlight both the scale of player involvement and the structured approach behind the campaign, from its community participation model to its multi-format video content, including livestreams and the Beyond the Game series.
The Leadership Perspective: CEO Vickie Chen
The ideas behind campaigns like Wonderland Wishes and Play for Paws come from CEO Vickie Chen’s focus on using games to support real communities. In her public letters, she highlighted efforts to connect gameplay with meaningful causes, from supporting foster youth through essential items to helping animal welfare organizations like the Nevada SPCA.
Her leadership has also been recognized at the industry level, with Vickie Chen named a finalist for Best Female CEO of the Year at the 2025 Stevie® Women in Business Awards.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the AviaGames GDC 2026 presence and recent award recognitions point in a clear direction as it approaches its 10th anniversary. From discussions around payments, trust, and marketing in sessions with PayPal and Meta to the gaming industry recognition of the Wonderland Wishes campaign, the focus stays on building systems and experiences that connect gameplay with real-world impact. This approach, shaped in part by CEO Vickie Chen’s leadership, reflects how the company continues to tie together product, community initiatives, and long-term growth.
