It looks like Miles College received quite a boost offensively from quarterback Anthony Mix in its win over Clark Atlanta last week. The Golden Bears (1-1, 1-3) could use Mix’s running and passing talents on Saturday, Sept. 26 against Savannah State (0-2, 0-2) on the road. The kickoff will be at 5 p.m.
Mix had 11 carries for 162 yards and one touchdown as Miles College defeated Clark Atlanta, 27-14. The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for the Golden Bears.
He also threw for 84 yards and one TD on 7-for-18 passing. The Golden Bears will try to grab another win in this Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest with the Tigers.
In other SIAC action, Tuskegee University (1-0, 1-2) will host Benedict College (1-0, 3-0) on Thursday, Sept. 24. The kickoff is set for 6 p.m. Benedict is the top team in the conference. This will be a tough matchup for the Golden Tigers.
Tuskegee University will rely on the passing arm of quarterback Bryson McGrew to move the football. McGrew has completed 29-of-55 passes for 549 yards with four TDs and just one interception. His key wide receiver is Ean Nation. Nation is the team’s leading receiver with seven catches for 149 yards and one TD.
In the Southwestern Athletic Conference, Alabama State (0-0, 2-1) will entertain Mississippi Valley State (0-0, 1-3) on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 5 p.m. ASU quarterback Andrew Body will direct the Hornets’ passing attack. Body has connected on 37-of-60 passes for 410 yards and three TDs this season. He is one of the top signal callers in the conference.
Elsewhere in the SWAC, Alabama A&M (0-0. 3-1) will visit Florida A&M (0-0, 1-3) on Saturday, Sept. 26. The kickoff will be at 6 p.m.
There are several players performing extremely well for the Bulldogs. However, cornerback Jeremiah Hudson-Davis has been nothing short of terrific. Hudson-Davis leads the SWAC in tackles with 39 total and 10 solo.
