Gospel music legend CeCe Winans brought her powerful vocals and message of faith to Birmingham Wednesday night, delivering an evening of worship that showcased the enduring influence of her music and marked a milestone in her celebrated career.
Winans performed at Legacy Arena at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex on Oct. 21 as part of her COME WORSHIP! Tour, her largest headlining arena tour to date.
The 18-time Grammy Award winner has spent decades establishing herself as one of gospel music’s most celebrated voices. Winans is bringing that legacy to audiences across the country through an experience centered on music, faith and community.
For someone who does not typically attend gospel concerts, Wednesday’s performance offered something different. The evening was more than a concert; it was an opportunity to experience how music can bring people together through shared expressions of faith.
Winans performed beloved songs including “Alabaster Box” and “Goodness of God,” two selections that reflect the themes of devotion, gratitude and surrender that have resonated with listeners across generations.
“Alabaster Box” is among the signature songs in Winans’ repertoire, telling a story of wholehearted devotion, while “Goodness of God” has become a widely embraced worship anthem celebrating faithfulness and gratitude. Hearing both performed live added to an evening that emphasized the emotional and spiritual connection between music and its listeners.

Tour was designed to bring people together across generations, backgrounds and denominations, offering audiences an opportunity to participate in worship rather than simply observe a performance.
The tour also features contemporary worship singer Charity Gayle, worship collective Red Worship and vocalist Terrian, bringing together artists whose music reaches audiences throughout the Christian music community.
For Winans, the tour represents a new chapter in a career that has helped shape gospel music for decades. Her numerous accolades and lasting influence have established her as a leading voice in the genre, but the headlining tour offers another way to share her music directly with audiences nationwide.
The Birmingham stop was part of the tour’s fall schedule, which began Oct. 8 and concludes Oct. 30 in Jacksonville, Florida.
Ultimately, Winans’ Birmingham performance served as a reminder that live music can offer something beyond entertainment. Through familiar songs and an evening dedicated to worship, the legendary singer created an opportunity for audiences to connect through music and faith — even for those stepping into the gospel concert experience for the first time.
