Clearwater’s FRIZBEA Is Pursuing Nationwide Growth By Providing Long-term Value

Few creators can stand out, gain traction, and achieve long-term growth in today’s overcrowded app market. In fact, reports say more than 99% of app launches fail. The creator of FRIZBEA was aware of the challenges he would face, but he positioned his app to beat the odds by embracing a strategy that prioritizes providing long-term value.

“The question was always what can I build that gives users reasons to come back tomorrow, next month, and years from now,” says Thomas Beasley, founder of FRIZBEA. “That led us to develop the platform around multiple layers. It also meant thinking beyond the first version of the application. We are building FRIZBEA with the expectation that features, partnerships, services, and technology will continue to expand as the community grows.”

FRIZBEA is a social media platform built specifically around dogs. It allows users to create profiles for their dogs, share photos and videos, interact with other dog owners, build communities, and discover content without having to work through an unrelated social network.

While the social feed is a big part of FRIZBEA, it is not the only part. The Beethoven’s Backyard feature expands FRIZBEA into a marketplace where pet-related businesses and service providers can connect with dog owners. Beasley and his team are also developing a concept called Bling Alert that assists users in finding lost dogs, as well as features that keep pets’ health records securely on the app and that empower a digital-reward ecosystem called Treats.

FRIZBEA is building value with data-driven strategies

When founders have past business successes, they can sometimes rely on their gut instead of turning to data to show that their latest idea has merit. In a field like app development that is riddled with failed projects, Beasley knew that approach would be dangerous.

To improve his chances of success, Beasley built FRIZBEA’s business model around extensive research on dog owners and their behaviors. What he found was enormous business potential for technology tools that would make dog ownership easier.

“The statistics gave us confidence in the size of the opportunity, but they also influenced the architecture of the platform,” Beasley says. “The research confirmed something I already believed: dogs represent an enormous community, but that community is fragmented across traditional social media, pet-service websites, e-commerce platforms, veterinary systems, shelters, and other services.”

While developing FRIZBEA, Beasley looked at the size of the dog-owning population, the amount consumers spend on their pets, the growth of the pet-services market, social-media engagement around pet content, and the amount of money flowing into pet products, veterinary care, grooming, boarding, walking, sitting, and related services. What caught his attention wasn’t simply that the markets were large, but that so many of the elements existed separately.

“The research helped shape the FRIZBEA thesis,” Beasley says. “Instead of asking dog owners to use one platform for entertainment, another to find services, another to shop, and another for other aspects of their dog’s life, why couldn’t we begin bringing that world together around the dog’s identity?”

FRIZBEA isn’t being built around one revenue stream or one user activity. It’s creating an ecosystem around the relationship people have with their dogs.

FRIZBEA helps dog owners by making it easy to get started

Statistics show that users want apps to simplify their lives. FRIZBEA has that covered. But stats also show that users want apps to be simple to use. Beasley made sure that was the case with FRIZBEA.

“One advantage FRIZBEA has is that the basic idea can be understood almost immediately: create a social profile for your dog,” Beasley explains. “People already understand profiles, feeds, photos, videos, followers, sharing, and social interaction. We aren’t asking users to learn an entirely new behavior before they can enjoy the platform.”

The onboarding process for FRIZBEA is very natural. A user joins, creates their dog’s identity, adds information and content, begins discovering other dogs and people in the community, and can then explore the broader FRIZBEA ecosystem.

And the more advanced features don’t need to be understood on day one. Users can discover Beethoven’s Backyard, vendors, services, rewards, lost-dog features, healthcare capabilities, contests, and future features as their relationship with FRIZBEA develops.

“We didn’t want onboarding for FRIZBEA to feel like reading an instruction manual,” Beasley says. “When you download FRIZBEA, you very quickly understand what to do next.”

Beasley is a local founder with national ambitions who is providing consumers with a powerful app for making dog ownership easier and more fun. And by embracing a data-driven approach, he’s built the app on a foundation that can fuel long-term success.

“One thing you don’t need market research to tell you is that people love their dogs,” Beasley says. “FRIZBEA makes it easier to do that. In fact, with all the features it provides, those who aren’t using FRIZBEA might want to ask themselves if they really love their dog.”
