Curves, Couture & Confidence: Charlotte Jackson Is Rewriting the Rules of Luxury Fashion

1 week ago 4

Charlotte Jackson is not just redefining plus-size fashion — she’s rewriting the rules of luxury itself. As the Founder of The Curve Authority, this former actress and singer has evolved into one of fashion’s most trusted behind-the-scenes power players, commanding the attention of elite houses like McQueen and Stella McCartney as a regular fixture at Paris Fashion Week. Born from her own experience navigating the world of couture as a woman with curves, Charlotte’s platform champions a radical but long-overdue truth: that elegance has no size limit, style carries no age restriction, and luxury belongs to every woman bold enough to claim it. In this candid conversation, she opens up about inclusive representation, the transformative power of personal style, and why the fashion industry’s most overlooked consumers may also be its most powerful.

You transitioned from acting and singing into becoming a leading force in luxury fashion and inclusive styling. Can you share the pivotal moment or realization that inspired you to create The Curve Authority, and what continues to drive your mission today?

CJ: My journey into fashion was actually shaped by my earlier experiences in acting and music. As a performer, you learn very quickly that presence matters. How you walk into a room, how you present yourself, and how style supports confidence all play a role in how your voice is received.

Those experiences made me appreciate fashion not just as clothing, but as a powerful extension of identity and expression.

During my time attending Paris Fashion Week over the years, there was a moment that stayed with me. I remember being in a room filled with designers, industry professionals, and key figures in the fashion world and realizing that I was the only woman in that space who looked like me. I was the only one with my curves and my perspective.

It was not simply about being different. It was about recognizing that women like me were often missing from conversations about luxury fashion even though we appreciate elegance, craftsmanship, and couture just as much as anyone else. That realization helped crystallize the vision for what would become The Curve Authority.

I wanted to create a platform and a movement that reminds women that curves are not something to hide or minimize. They are something to celebrate. Luxury fashion should reflect the diversity, confidence, and elegance that real women bring into every room they enter.

What continues to drive me today is watching women transform when they finally feel seen. When a woman walks into a room differently because she knows she belongs there, that is when the mission comes alive.

Luxury fashion has long had rigid standards around size, age, and beauty. How do you approach redefining these norms in your work, and what changes are you most proud to have influenced in the industry so far?

CJ: For a long time, luxury fashion has operated within a very narrow definition of beauty. Size, age, and body type were often treated as limitations rather than expressions of individuality and power.

My approach has always been to challenge that idea by showing that elegance, sophistication, and presence are not confined to one silhouette or one stage of life.

Women with curves and women with maturity bring a level of confidence, experience, and authority that deserves to be reflected in luxury fashion. When those women step into couture, high fashion spaces, and global fashion conversations, it begins to expand the industry’s understanding of what true luxury looks like.

Through The Curve Authority, my goal has been to create visibility and opportunity for women who have historically been overlooked in these spaces. Representation is powerful because when women see themselves reflected in fashion at a high level, it changes how they see themselves in the world.

What I am most proud of is seeing the conversation shift. More brands are recognizing the importance of inclusive sizing, diverse representation, and the influence of women who are confident in their curves and their presence.

Luxury fashion should never feel exclusive in the sense of exclusion. It should feel aspirational, empowering, and reflective of the real women who appreciate it.

The Curve Authority will continue to push that vision forward by reminding women that elegance has no size limit and confidence has no age requirement.

You often talk about how clothing sets the tone for how we enter a room and how others perceive us. How can someone harness fashion as a tool for confidence and personal expression, regardless of size or age?

CJ: Clothing does more than cover the body. It sets the tone for how we enter a room and how we feel about ourselves before we ever say a word.

Fashion has the ability to communicate confidence, intention, and personality. The way a garment fits, the silhouette it creates, the colors you choose, and the way you carry yourself in it all become part of the message you present to the world.

For me, fashion is about authenticity. When a woman finds pieces that truly honor her body and reflect her personality, something changes. She stands taller. She moves with greater confidence. People feel that energy before she ever speaks.

That is the true power of fashion. It becomes a tool for confidence rather than something we use to hide.

My advice is simple. Dress in a way that celebrates who you are right now. Do not wait for a different size, a different age, or a different stage of life. Style is not about perfection. It is about presence.

When a woman understands that, she stops asking for permission to be seen. She walks into the room knowing she already belongs there.

You’ve emphasized the importance of in-store boutique experiences and building meaningful relationships with brands. Why do you believe this human connection is still essential in today’s digital-heavy retail environment, and how does it shape the future of fashion?

CJ: In a world that continues to move toward digital convenience, the human experience in fashion remains incredibly important.

Fashion is not only visual. It is tactile and emotional. When someone walks into a boutique, feels the fabrics, sees how a garment moves, and has a conversation with someone who understands style and fit, the experience becomes personal. That level of connection cannot truly be replicated through a screen.

Those moments create trust between the client and the brand. When a woman feels seen, understood, and supported in the styling process, shopping becomes more than a transaction. It becomes an experience that builds confidence and loyalty.

Boutique environments also allow women to explore style in a way that feels guided and encouraging. Sometimes, all it takes is the right environment and the right conversation for someone to see themselves in a completely new light.

While technology will continue to shape the future of retail, the brands that will stand out are the ones that remember fashion is still about people. Luxury should feel welcoming, thoughtful, and memorable.

Experiences like these are part of how The Curve Authority continues to encourage women to see themselves differently and step fully into their presence.

From performing to consulting for top brands, your career spans multiple creative industries. What advice would you give to women, particularly those 45 and older or navigating underrepresented spaces, who want to create influence, impact, and longevity in their careers?

CJ: One of the most important things I would say to women, especially those over 45 or navigating spaces where they feel underrepresented, is to understand that your experience is not a limitation. It is one of your greatest strengths.

By this stage of life, you have gained wisdom, resilience, and clarity that younger versions of yourself were still discovering. Those qualities bring depth and confidence into everything you do.

Do not allow anyone to convince you that your time has passed or that your presence is too different for the room you want to enter. Very often, the very thing that makes you stand out is the thing that gives you influence.

If the space you want to be in does not seem to exist for you yet, create it. Build the platform. Start the conversation. When women lead with authenticity and conviction, they open doors not only for themselves but for many others who will follow.

Influence and longevity come from being fully aligned with who you are and the purpose you carry. When you embrace that fully, you stop waiting for permission and begin walking confidently in the direction you are meant to go.
