The Jets own the second overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

This is the time of year when rumors start flying out of control about what teams at the top of the Draft are expected to do. NFL insiders Peter Schrager and Dan Jeremiah are pouring fuel on the fire. Both are suggesting the Jets favor Texas Tech edge David Bailey over Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese.

Two prominent NFL insiders with evidence to suggest the Jets are leaning David Bailey, not Arvell Reese, second overall.

What does any of this mean? I’d argue it’s not much.

Teams are constantly feeding the media information at this time of year. Some of it is true. Some of it is false. I wouldn’t be surprised in the next few days to hear some insider say they get the feeling the Jets like Reese better than Bailey. Rumors are all over the map and will continue to be up until the start of the NFL Draft.

The reality is the Jets are probably in the process of setting their final board. Even if they do lean in one direction today, that could change by the time they are on the clock.

At times like these it can be better to stand by than to give clout to every rumor under the sun.
