Drought engulfs Alabama but rain is on the way

Drought conditions got worse across a large part of Alabama in the most recent report from the U.S. Drought Monitor, shown above. Most of south Alabama and parts of central and north Alabama are now in a Level 3 out of 4 drought, and there is a small area of Level 4 drought in the southeast corner of the state.

To no one’s surprise but to everyone’s dismay, drought conditions got markedly worse across Alabama over the past week.
