Flash flood warning active for Central Alabama until Wednesday night due to thunderstorms

On Wednesday at 8:43 p.m. the National Weather Service released a flash flood warning in effect until 11:45 p.m. for Dallas, Greene, Hale, Marengo, Perry and Sumter counties.

"At 8:43 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly," comments the weather service. "Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas."
