One day before a Louisiana hearing that could determine the future of pro athletes returning to college sports, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey filed an affidavit arguing that his conference should be able to enforce rules against its own members irrespective of court rulings.

Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger shared parts of the affidavit to social media on Wednesday, in which Sankey writes that Louisiana law is ultimately on the SEC’s side.
