When I took the oath of service, I swore to support and defend the Constitution of the United States—not a political party. The military trains everyday Americans to put on the country’s away colors, to hold mission above self, and to place the country above politics. Like most veterans I know, I carried that principle into civilian life. I am not a Republican or a Democrat. I am an American who served, and I vote as an independent.
