The Tennessee Titans have immediate roster needs to address in the 2026 NFL Draft. Depending on who you ask, EDGE rusher, interior offensive line, running back, and wide receiver are among the glaring holes. One position that rarely comes up as a must-achieve for 2026 is offensive tackle.
Despite that, it’s plausible to believe the Titans may target offensive tackle early. Not No. 4 overall early, but perhaps with the 35th selection? It’s a premium position, and the Titans possess at least one major long-term question at the position.
Left tackle Dan Moore Jr. was overpaid last offseason, signing a four-year, $82 million contract to be a stopgap option. Moore performed as advertised. He was a big upgrade on disasters like Dennis Daley and Andre Dillard in recent years, but Pro Football Focus still credited him with allowing eight sacks and 48 pressures.
It’s our opinion that Moore’s play was relatively acceptable, but Mike Borgonzi signed him simply to buy time until he finds a younger replacement. Perhaps the upcoming NFL Draft represents the perfect opportunity. The Titans will be able to release Moore next offseason, clearing $9.3 million in cap space should Borgonzi choose to do so.
If the Titans are considering releasing Moore next summer, then left tackle is one of those positions where it’s wise to plan ahead. This franchise has a decent history of doing so. The Titans drafted Michael Roos when Brad Hopkins was still on the roster, and then Taylor Lewan when Roos was still on the team. Both of those decisions were met with initial criticism, but paid major long-term dividends.
Playing offensive line in the NFL often requires a steep learning curve. Drafting a prospect and letting him develop behind the scenes for a year is sometimes a worthwhile experiment. The Titans essentially did that last offseason with Jackson Slater, who is expected to compete for a starting gig at guard/center this offseason.
This offensive tackle class lacks high-end prospects, but it’s relatively deep. Though tackles typically fly off the board (another reason for the Titans to consider addressing it early), there are some prospects who may be available at No. 35 overall. Max Iheanachor, Caleb Lomu, Kadyn Proctor, and Blake Miller come to mind. Alternatively, Caleb Tiernan could be a target at No. 66.
