Iconic American liquor brand in talks to merge with major French brand

Brown-Forman, the Kentucky-based owner of Jack Daniel’s and Woodford Reserve, confirmed in a news release Thursday “initial discussions” of a merger with French spirits producer Pernod Ricard, the maker of Absolut Vodka and Jameson.
