Betty Lou Gerson, who was raised in Birmingham, was a popular actress of the 1940s and 50s who became an accomplished voice actress. She voiced the animated character Cruella De Vil in “101 Dalmatians” and the narrator in the animated “Cinderella.”

Cruella De Vil is one of Disney’s most recognized villains but most people don’t know the mean-spirited puppy thief was voiced by Betty Lou Gerson – born in Chattanooga and raised in Birmingham – and inspired by Huntsville’s own Tallulah Bankhead.
