“Do Better” is the latest look at Jonah’s forthcoming sophomore album, Eternity of Anything, out October 30, and finds him drawing a line in a relationship where love and effort have stopped being equally returned. It’s less a traditional breakup song than a moment of clarity: realizing that wanting something badly enough doesn’t mean you should have to carry it alone.
The song also really showcases the level of creative ownership Jonah has taken with this new era. He wrote, produced, recorded, engineered and mixed “Do Better” himself, just as he did the entirety of Eternity of Anything. After spending his debut album traveling the country and recording from a rebuilt Airstream, Jonah made this record almost entirely in isolation, turning inward and building the songs from lyric and melody all the way through the final mix himself.
“Do Better” arrives in the middle of a huge year for Jonah. His breakout single “God Needs the Devil” hit #1 at U.S. Alternative Radio and earned Gold certification, his catalog has surpassed 500 million global streams, and his debut album Sunflowers and Leather debuted at #3 on Spotify’s Top Albums chart. After performing alongside Dave Matthews Band at The Gorge in September, he is currently on the road with Dermot Kennedy, including upcoming dates at Red Rocks, the Greek Theatre, Bill Graham Civic Auditorium and Rogers Arena.
“Do Better” is the latest preview of Jonah Kagen’s forthcoming sophomore album, Eternity of Anything, out October 30 via Arista Records. It follows the album’s lead single “Don’t Feel Right,” which introduced the darker, more expansive sound of the new project, and arrives as Kagen continues a major year that has also included collaborations with NEEDTOBREATHE, Caitlyn Smith, Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors, Elliot Greer and Peacemode. Across Eternity of Anything, Kagen takes unprecedented creative control, writing, producing, recording, engineering and mixing the entire album himself.
A Savannah, Georgia native, Kagen has built a devoted following around his intricate guitar work and deeply personal songwriting. His breakout single “God Needs the Devil” reached #1 at U.S. Alternative Radio and earned Gold certification, while his catalog has surpassed 500 million global streams. His 2025 debut album, Sunflowers and Leather, debuted at #3 on Spotify’s Top Albums chart and earned praise from PEOPLE, Rolling Stone, American Songwriter and Ones To Watch. Following a sold-out 32-date headline tour and a performance with Dave Matthews Band at The Gorge, Kagen is currently on the road as special guest on Dermot Kennedy’s The Weight of the Woods Tour.
