A little more than 24 hours removed from No. 3 Jacksonville State’s resounding win over No. 2 Virginia in the opening round of the Hattiesburg region, the Gamecocks were dealt a first-inning haymaker from fellow upset-maker No. 4 Little Rock.
The Trojans (38-26) scored three runs in the first inning, Jax State (47-14) spent the remainder of the game trying to rally, but Little Rock defeated Jax State to advance to Sunday’s regional title game.
