4 weeks ago 6

A fixture in the rap game since he was 15, Luh Tyler is ready to glow up even further as he enters his twenties. The North Florida-born rap prodigy continues to shine, serving up “Kobe,” an effortlessly funky new single and music video. Produced by Venday, “Kobe” is blessed with a bounce that unites the sounds of the South and hte west coast, with an emphatic, moving bassline, twangy guitar scratches, and funky, tin-can 808 percussion. Tyler slides on the track with his drawly flow, stacking witty flexes in quick succession: “They couldn’t see I was a star, they musta had they eyes closed/I always been a hustler, never worked a 9-to-5, tho,” he spits. In the video, live on Tyler’s YouTube channel at 2pm ET, the man known as Mr. Skii stunts in his G-Wagon, before taking questions in a press conference like a star athlete, paying tribute to titular NBA star Kobe Bryant.

“Kobe” is Tyler’s second single of 2026, following the silky Valentine’s Day anthem, “My Boo.” Tyler is hard at work on his next project, following up last year’s Florida Boy mixtape. Look for the new project to hit this spring via Motion Music / Atlantic Music Group.

Born and raised in Tallahassee, FL, Luh Tyler took the rap game by storm as a teenager, stunning tastemakers and fans with his slippery flows and raspy-voiced witticisms. Only 16-years-old, Tyler earned plaudits from the likes of Rolling Stone and Pitchfork for his infectiously hard-hitting singles, like “Jayda Wayda,” “Law & Order,” and “Back Flippin’.” In 2023, Tyler released his debut album, My Vision, named one of the year’s best albums by UPROXX and Complex. The album welcomed guests like Lil Uzi Vert, Loe Shimmy, and BabyTron, generating over 100 million cross-platform streams, and cementing his spot on XXL’s 2023 Freshman List. Tyler followed-up My Vision with 2024’s Mr. Skii, home to hits like “First Show,” “Change My Wayz,” and “2 Slippery” ft. BossMan Dlow, and his headlining “Mr. Skii Tour.”

Luh Tyler dug deeper into his background on 2025’s Florida Boy mixtape, limiting the number of guests and focusing on widening his artistic and sonic palette, performing songs from the tape as a special guest on A Boogie’s worldwide “Better Off Alone Tour.” Billboard rewarded Tyler’s hard work by naming him one of 2025’s 21 Under 21.

Now 20-years-old as he enters a new phase of his career, Luh Tyler is looking to elevate his game, with his sights set on joining the rap game A-list. Stay tuned for much more, as the Florida rapper prepares to launch his smooth stylings to the mainstream

The Background

Wielding a wavy flow, irresistible melodies, and inventive dynamics, Luh Tyler animates bouncy anthems with undeniable unpredictability. He switches lanes seamlessly between his signature laidback cadence and airy high register, touting a style all his own. It’s why he’s quietly emerged as a vibrant voice out of his native Tallahassee, FL, all before the age of 16. Inspired by local favorites Wizz Havin, Trapland Pat, L.O.E. Shimmy, and more, he started to upload music of his own. Following “5 On It Freestyle,” he gained traction with “Jayda Wayda.” Meanwhile, “Law & Order” posted up over 3.9M YouTube views. Pitchfork hailed “I Gotta Slide” among “The Ones” and professed, “I particularly like moments when his voice cracks or sounds dry; it makes lines stick in your mind.”

During late 2022, Tyler popped off with “Back Flippin,” now with over 43M Spotify streams and an official music video boasting over 13M YouTube views. In 2023, Tyler released his debut mixtape, My Vision, which debuted #2 on Billboard’s “Heatseekers” chart and was praised by the likes of Billboard, Complex, and Pitchfork, which declared him “The Coolest 16-Year-Old Rapper in America,” adding, “The trippy rhythm paired with his cloud of punchlines delivered in that middle-aged cigarette smoker voice makes doing absolutely nothing sound cool as shit. You don’t need to be a teenager to get behind that.”

Having landed among the 2023 XXL Freshman Class and been named to Billboard’s “21 Under 21” list, 2024 saw the arrival of Tyler’s Atlantic Records debut album, Mr. Skii, highlighted by such singles as “Mr. Skii,” “2 Slippery (Feat. BossMan Dlow),” “TH2DH,” and “Young N****a,” alongside features from Kodak Black, BLP Kosher, Veeze, and Trapland Pat. Tyler marked the album’s arrival with The Mr. Skii Tour – his biggest North American headline tour to date – as well as a special guest run on A Boogie wit da Hoodie’s epic Better Off Alone Tour that included performances at Los Angeles, CA’s Kia Forum, Morrison, CO’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre,  and New York City’s world-famous Madison Square Garden. In 2025, with the release of Florida Boy and accolades including Billboard’s 2025 “21 Under 21” list, Tyler continued his momentum, and looks to make a major impact in 2026.
