Miles College will head back on the road to face host Alabama A&M on Saturday, Sept. 5 in the Louis Crews Classic. The kickoff will be at 6 p.m. The Golden Bears (0-0, 0-1) will be playing another tough opponent from the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
Miles College could have its hands full with the Alabama A&M (0-0, 0-1) offense. The Bulldogs are led by quarterback Cornelious Brown IV, a multi-talented player, who can throw the deep pass with some great running skills from the pocket.
Brown completed 25-of-41 passes for 254 yards with two touchdowns and one interception along with one rushing TD in a losing effort to Howard University last week. He will be a player to watch in this contest.
In other action in the SWAC, Alabama State (0-0, 1-0) will entertain Lane College (0-0, 0-1) on Saturday, Sept. 5 in the Labor Day Classic. The kickoff is set for 5 p.m. ASU quarterback Andrew Body brings a lot of excitement with his passing and running ability. Body completed 14-of-23 passes for 192 yards and one TD in the season opening win over Southern University last week.
Defensively, linebacker Mitchell Robinson is a great open field tackler. Robinson is one of the leaders on the Hornets’ defense.
In the SIAC, Tuskegee University (0-0, 0-1) will visit Fort Valley State (0-0, 1-0) in Mobile, Alabama, on Saturday, Sept. 5 for the Port City Classic. Kickoff is at 5 p.m.
The Golden Tigers’ quarterback Bryson McGrew will run the team’s offense that includes wide receiver EJ Hall who can really stretch the field with his quickness. TU’s defensive stalwarts are lineman Masiah Wells, cornerback Keenan Libecca and linebacker Nate Davis. The Golden Tigers will look to get off to a good start in conference play.
