The Detroit Lions have released the first episode of this season’s highly watched series “Inside the Den.”

This episode of the Emmy-award winning documentary series goes behind-the-scenes to touch on some key offseason movements within the franchise.

It starts with a look at new offensive coordinator Drew Petzing, as he sits down with a few coaches to watch film. This gives viewers a chance to learn what he sees when he watches a certain play, as well as what he may be expecting from his players this season.

The episode follows the same with defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard, until going into the process signing free agents in the offseason. General manager Brad Holmes also offers a little insight into how he identifies the types of players he believes the Lions need, and the process of going after them (you can read some of Holmes’ direct quotes on the free agency class here).

You can watch the episode, which runs just over a half hour, below:

And onto the rest of your notes.

  • Joining the “Up & Adams Show,” draft prospect Monroe Freeling tells host Kay Adams that he’s spoken with his former George teammate and current Lions lineman Tate Ratledge about playing for Detroit.

  • Over on The Feed, user Prof_SJR offers their analysis on Brad Holmes’ drafting success, evaluating whether each selection delivered more or less value than what teams typically expect from that draft slot.

  • If you noticed posts on the Lions’ X account were a little unusual on Monday, it’s because of this:

  • Detroit Football Network’s Justin Rogers offers a great profile on the head of the Lions’ scouting department.

I published a feature I've been picking away at for weeks, detailing the path and process of Brian Hudspeth, the head of Detroit's college scouting department.

You're going to need your full lunch break for this one. https://t.co/LspIuoY9aapic.twitter.com/TWu57q5DD9

  • NFL Network’s Peter Schrager offers his take on why pick-tipping is no fun for anyone.

My annual plea to put the phone away and to just enjoy the NFL Draft.

I'm anti pick tipping, and it's got nothing to do with my employers.
