Unless I am wrong, the Ty Simpson pick and how the Los Angeles Rams came to select him will be talked about throughout the 2026 season and beyond.

But in 2026, every game will have the chance to show Simpson on your television screen, every talking head will be able to say that the Rams have Simpson instead of “name a player”. The selection is perhaps the biggest news story around the NFL since the draft.

Is there any other major story going around the NFL? Nothing comes to mind…just Simpson…and the NFL Draft…

Regardless, it is what it is. Simpson will be discussed, studied and everyone will have an opinion and you’ll likely hear about it again and again, AND those opinions can change, so you’ll hear about those takes too.

Not to mention there will be plenty of articles to write on the topic, and Simpson could be one of the more well-known names around the NFL regardless of if he takes a snap or not this year.

It’s been a couple days since the NFL Draft has ended, and it’s nice to be able to actually know what each team did as opposed to all the guessing, though that presents its own type of fun.

The good news is every team got better after the draft, right?

Rams pick of Ty Simpson could be horrendous for Puka Nacua and Davante Adams reason (sportingnews.com)

“”Was it a risk to draft quarterback Ty Simpson at No. 13 instead of a player who could help the Rams win the Super Bowl in2 026?” Bishop writes. “If either misses extended time, the Rams might wish they had drafted a player who could help them win right now.”

Los Angeles wound up picking Simpson with the 13th pick over a few playmakers that could’ve provided an instant-spark on the offensive side of the ball.

Most notably, they passed on USC’s Makai Lemon, who fell to No. 20, to the Philadelphia Eagles. KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston, who both went to the Cleveland Browns, could’ve been good options at No. 13 as well.“

Former exec says Rams QB succession plan could be ‘tough to manage’ (ramswire)

“”Matthew Stafford will sit in quarterback meetings every day of the season next to his replacement,” Brandt said. “Brett wasn’t thrilled about that, I’m sure Aaron wasn’t thrilled about that, and I don’t think Matthew’s thrilled about that. Of course he’ll put on a great face and Ty Simpson will say all the right things, but it’s tough to manage. I’ve been there. You’re managing egos and insecurity, and you’re managing a true superstar in Matthew Stafford.”

Cardinals must settle for Carson Beck after losing Ty Simpson to Rams (ramblinfan)

“Meanwhile, the Cardinals held picks at 3, 34, and 65. Had LA not selected Simpson at 13, the Cardinals were almost certainly going to at 34. How do we know? After missing out on Simpson to the Rams. Arizona stepped up to the podium to select quarterback Carson Beck at 65.

To many NFL experts, the talent level after Ty Simpson fell off a cliff. That’s why the Cards were comfortable selecting him in Round 3. Projected to fall to Day 3, Beck was simply the best quarterback available to a team that needs help at the position.“
