Report: AFCA backing several major changes to postseason

The American Football Coaches Association is backing several potential major changes to the sport’s postseason structure, according to a report Tuesday by Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger.

According to the report, the AFCA’s Board of Trustees voted on several non-binding resolutions at its annual meeting last week. Among those were an expansion of the College Football Playoff to include a “maximum” number of teams (likely 24), the elimination of conference championship games, a dedicated time window for the Army-Navy game and ending the playoff by the second week in January.
