SCOTUS order on Alabama redistricting case too late to change maps, plaintiffs claim

The U.S. Supreme Court order issued Monday paving the way for new congressional maps advantaging Republicans in Alabama is too close to the May 19 primary elections that a three-judge panel must keep the current districts in place, the plaintiffs in the federal lawsuit argued in a new filing.
