The $53 million widened section of U.S. 280 is officially open in Jefferson County

The Alabama Department of Transportation has opened the newly widened section of U.S. 280, between Shades Creek Parkway and I-459. Additional upgrades are expected to be completed by early October, followed by the opening of the Pump House Road bridge later this fall.
