Time is running out to claim $1.2 billion in tax refunds; 1.3 million people owed money

Under federal law, taxpayers have three years to file and claim their tax refunds. If they don’t meet that deadline, the money becomes the property of the U.S. Treasury.

Taxpayers face an April 15 deadline to claim some $1.2 billion in refunds for tax year 2022.
