Tornado warning in place for Central Alabama early Wednesday evening – move to nearest shelter

On Wednesday at 4:13 p.m. the National Weather Service released a tornado warning in effect until 5:15 p.m. for Autauga, Lowndes and Montgomery counties.

"At 4:13 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Benton, or 9 miles northwest of Mosses, moving east at 30 mph," states the weather service. "Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely."
