Birmingham’s fiscal year 2027 budget of $614.7 million outpaces every other city in the metro area, continuing a trend that has held for several years, according to city documents.

The city’s budget reflects its size, with a population just over 196,000. That is more than twice that of Hoover, the metro’s second-largest city with around 93,000 residents.
