A federal appeals court has revived a lawsuit filed by a former Piedmont High School football player who alleges he was sexually harassed by teammates and was the target of an attempted sexual assault.
According to court documents filed June 17, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit overturned a lower court’s dismissal of claims brought by a player identified in court records as C.W., who was 15 at the time of the alleged incidents, against former Piedmont head football coach Steve Smith and the Piedmont City School District.
