The NCAA’s “5 to play 5” rule appears to be closer to happening.
The Division I Cabinet will formally vote on the proposal at its June meeting, it was announced Friday. Should the measure play, athletes would have five years to play five seasons, with no redshirts except in extenuating circumstances such as military service, religious missionary work or pregnancy.
