The full-length concert film is presented in Dolby Atmos, as well as Dolby 2.1 and 5.1, the release says. The July 5, 2025, show
The July 5, 2025, Back to the Beginning show at Villa Park in Birmingham marked Osbourne’s last performance, the release says, reuniting him with Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward for the group’s first performance together in more than 20 years. The sold-out show drew more than three million requests for 44,000 tickets, according to the release.
The concert was hosted by Jason Momoa, with musical director Tom Morello, and included sets from Alice in Chains, Anthrax, Gojira, Guns N’ Roses, Halestorm, Lamb of God, Mastodon, Metallica, Pantera, Rival Sons, Slayer, and Tool, along with all-star segments featuring guests including Billy Corgan, Chad Smith, David Draiman, Jake E. Lee, Nuno Bettencourt, Ronnie Wood, Sammy Hagar, Steven Tyler, Travis Barker, Vernon Reid, and Yungblud, the release says.
“Back to the Beginning was a once-in-a-lifetime event that will go down in music history,” says Sharon Osbourne, Osbourne’s wife and manager, who oversaw the concert and executive-produced the film. “Ozzy suffered from chronic pain during the final six years of his life. His only wish was to perform one last time to thank his fans and say goodbye. It was an incredible day when his peers in the rock world descended on Aston from all over the globe to celebrate his legendary talent and extraordinary legacy.”
The Blu-ray runs three and a half hours, the release says, with highlights from the July 5 performances, plus Jack Black performing “Mr. Crowley” and Fred Durst performing “Changes.” Bonus features include a behind-the-scenes featurette, video tributes, and the Sounds of Birmingham documentary. The film was directed for screen by Ben Wainwright-Pearce, with the live concert directed by Tim van Someren.
“Back to the Beginning is a remarkable document of a day that brought the music community together on an extraordinary scale,” Tristan Whitlam of Mercury Studios said. “These special home entertainment and music releases gives fans the opportunity to revisit that historic day and experience the performances, tributes and emotion of the occasion for years to come.”
